When the green flag drops for the Pep Boys Auto 500
on September at Atlanta Motor Speedway, history will be
made again, when Atlanta hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series night race in the track's 51 years of operation.
Bet the Sprint cup series, as the top drivers take to
one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR in the hunt for a
critical checkered flag. Expect a heated competition, as
NASCAR's top drivers compete for late-season points
before entering the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Atlanta Motor Speedway is l.54 mile quad-oval with 24
degrees of banking in the turns. The Pep Boys Auto 500
is one of two races held at Atlanta Motor
Speedway, the other being the
Kobalt Tools 500
in March, earlier in the year. Because the cars don't
use the speed-sapping restrictor plates here the average
speeds in Atlanta are even faster than the superspeedways of Daytona and Talladega. This is a very
fast race track that has a history of truly great
racing.
