NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has a brand new racing event at Kansas Speedway. This new race, which is the first of two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at this track, will be known as the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Denny Hamlin wins 2012 STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Hamlin held off Martin Truex Jr. over the final 30 laps. Jimmie Johnson finished third, followed by Roush Fenway Racing teammates Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle. Truex moved into second place in the Sprint Cup series standings behind Biffle, who leads by 15 points.
