The long NASCAR season culminates
in a frenzy of speed and fury on the asphalt of
Homestead-Miami Speedway. Find out who’ll hoist
the Nextel Cup, NASCAR’s greatest prize, with
Ford 400.
The final showdown in the Sprint Cup Chase kicks off on November
20, 2011 and airs live beginning at 1PM from the
Homestead-Miami Speedway on ABC Television.
One of the most
loved and respected racetracks in the world. The
art-deco styled racetrack will be holding this
year's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, formerly the
Nextel Cup Series. This 1.5-mile track is best
known for nose-to-nose finishes that keep NASCAR
fans on the edge of their Chairs.
Homestead-Miami Speedway was built in 1995 and
has undergone three major renovations since.
Initially the Homestead-Miami Speedway opened as
a four turn rectangular oval with sharp flat
turns and aprons that made passing difficult and
overall low speeds.
In 1997, the speedway
started an $8.2 million reconfiguration project
to widen the aprons by 24 feet and change from a
quad oval to a continuous oval. In 2000, the
track was reconfigured with six degree banking
in the turns. Three years later, Homestead-Miami
Speedway was again reconfigured to include
variable banking in the turns. Drivers must now
contend with banking from 18 degrees in the
bottom racing groove to 20 degrees near the
outside wall, making for some exciting racing
action!

2010 Ford 400 Championship Winner
Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 2010 Ford 400. Johnson finished second at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday, leading one lap and earning 175 points. That proved to be enough to overtake Denny Hamlin, who entered the final race with a slim 15-point lead in the standings, but gained only 121 points after an 11th place finish
In 2009, NASCAR
betting fans watched as Denny Hamlin was named
the official winner, although the phenomenal
Jimmie Johnson won the overall standings and
defended his title as NASCAR champ for the
fourth consecutive year!
